Bodegas Valduero
Ribera del Duero, Burgos, Spain
"6 years minimum ageing: 3 years in wood from 4 different origins and 3 years in the bottle. Variety 100% Tempranillo (Tinto Fino). Vineyard over 40 years old. Low yield vineyard: 2,000 kg/Ha. Use of native yeasts that provide the character and personality of the terroir.
Natural settling. A wine for great moments, a perfume. With this wine, Yolanda García Viadero shows that power and elegance are not at odds in a wine from Ribera del Duero. A high layer wine. Intense garnet colour. With marked aromas of toffee and hints of cedar wood. Complex on the palate, it is a complete wine. Wide, fleshy and enveloping."
Serving temperature: 14-18°C
97 Decanter points.

Bodegas Valduero is one of Spain’s most visionary and globally respected wineries. For almost 40 years, this family-owned-and-run estate has been leading the way in Ribera del Duero. One of the first wineries to emerge in Ribera del Duero after the Denominación de Origen (DO) was founded in 1982, Valduero helped shape its early days, and has been producing some of the region’s most iconic wines ever since.
The bodega’s story is one that brings together all the necessary elements for creating a great wine estate: a world- beating terroir and a passionate winemaking family with the artisan philosophy, vision and long-term commitment (and investment) required to turn great fruit into great wine.
The story starts in 1984, when Gregorio García Álvarez, and his two daughters Yolanda and Carolina García Viadero, came together to revive the family tradition of winemaking. Each of the three brought disparate and complementary skills: Gregorio as an industrial engineer, Yolanda an agricultural engineer and Carolina with her degree in Art History and an MBA. Coming together as a team of partners fitting together like pieces of a puzzle, they embark on a long and successful path, accorded today with international awards and great recognition of its wines with several of them among the 10 best in the world.
